‘The Day of the Lord’

‘The Day of the Lord’

(Israel’s Dark Day)

3 Facts:-

1) Israel’s Prophets repeatedly warned the nation of a

coming fiery day of judgment from the Lord God.

2) It is to be a terrible period of time at the end of the age. Jeremiah 25:30-31.

3) The Lord will pour out His wrath not only on Israel’s enemies but on Israel herself! Why? To bring her to repentance and into the New Covenant. Jeremiah 31:31.

3 Prophecies: –

1) Amos 5:18-20. Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! For what good is the day of the Lord to you? It will be darkness and not light. It will be as though a man fled from a lion and a bear met him! Or as though he went into the house, leaned his hand on the wall and a serpent bit him! Is not the day of the Lord darkness and not light? Is it not very dark with no brightness in it?

2) Zephaniah 1:14-16. The great day of the Lord is near, it is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter, there the mighty men shall cry out. That day is a day of wrath. A day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. A day of trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and the high towers.

3) Revelation 6:12-14. I looked when He opened the sixth seal and behold, there was a great earthquake and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. The sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. V14. For the great day of His wrath has come and who is able to stand. How to avoid all this – repent! Be you Jew or Gentile
